Choose fewer bases for 5–8 days
For around five days, consider a single base such as Chengdu or Shanghai. With seven or eight days, compare a regional stay with a two-stop route. Count arrival, departure and intercity travel separately: two cities can leave fewer full sightseeing days than the headline duration suggests.
Adding Zhangjiajie to a shorter trip
The 7-day Zhangjiajie and Shanghai itinerary allows two forest park days, a flexible Tianmen Mountain day and a short Shanghai stay. It works only if the connections fit your dates. For a slower trip, spend the time in Zhangjiajie and its surroundings instead of adding the second city.
Read the Zhangjiajie travel guide to compare the forest park, Tianmen Mountain and the Grand Canyon. Choose the sights you want before asking for tickets; they are separate visits.
Plan around the flight you can actually book
Check direct and connecting services for your dates and chosen airport. Leave room for the hotel transfer at both ends; a convenient flight time may be more useful than another sightseeing stop.
Give a family trip a simple daily rhythm
Share children’s ages, room requirements and meal preferences. Choose one main outing with rest time instead of several distant attractions in a day. For mountain days, ask about stairs, queues and the practicalities of using a pushchair. A cableway ride does not settle the question of access for the rest of the route.
Food and language preferences
Tell your planner which dishes you want to try, ingredients you avoid and whether you prefer English or Mandarin. Guide language and specific meal arrangements need confirmation.
Check Singapore and China holiday dates
Compare both calendars, including school breaks. Singapore residency alone does not determine Chinese entry eligibility; check the rules for the passport you will use.

Comparing China tours from Singapore
Check whether the quote includes international flights or starts after arrival in China. Confirm the quoted currency, room arrangements, domestic transport and guide language. State which days you want organised and where you prefer independent time.
Use the China travel preparation guide for payments, rail and phone setup. In your enquiry, include the dates, number of travellers and places you want to keep. Flight availability and individual services still need confirmation.
