A first visit: one city, two different days

Shenzhen is a good place to explore a contemporary side of China: skyline views, public parks and ordinary neighbourhood life. For a short stay, choose a base that suits your arrival point and the areas you want to see. Treat two days as a starting idea rather than a fixed package, and keep arrival day flexible.

For a first day, consider Futian and Lianhua Hill Park, with a neighbourhood meal and time to rest. On another day, choose the Shenzhen Bay area for a waterfront change of pace. These are ideas to discuss with your planner; the final order depends on your hotel, the weather and how much walking you enjoy.

Shape a personal Shenzhen stay

Choose a pace for the season

Shenzhen has a long, warm and rainy part of the year. Cooler months can be more comfortable for walking, but check the forecast rather than packing for a guaranteed temperature. In hot weather, put longer outdoor walks earlier or later in the day and keep an indoor alternative for heavy rain.

Public spaces and parks are only one part of the visit. Leave time for a meal, a coffee or a quieter street instead of travelling across the city for every stop. Ask about steps, shade and places to sit if your party includes children or anyone who prefers a gentler day.

Arriving and continuing your journey

Share the exact airport or railway station, arrival time and hotel address with your planner. Shenzhen has several transport hubs, so the city name alone is not enough to arrange a pickup. Keep your hotel’s Chinese address and a contact method available offline.

If you combine Shenzhen with Hong Kong or another city, allow for the whole transfer, including any border formalities and travel to the station. Confirm entry requirements for your own passport and itinerary before booking; proximity to Hong Kong does not remove those checks. We can discuss whether a Shenzhen stay fits your wider China route.
