Your 7-day Zhangjiajie and Shanghai itinerary
This week gives priority to the mountains. It allows three potential sightseeing days in Zhangjiajie and one full day in Shanghai, with arrival, transfer and departure counted separately. The notes below flag walking, steps and travel days. Ask for exact walking distances and access details if these affect your plans.
Arrival routing may require a connection. Settle in and prepare for the mountain days.
Allow for a flight or rail connection if needed.
Use two days for selected National Forest Park areas in Wulingyuan. Consider Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain for viewpoints, with a valley walk if the connections and your energy allow. Agree the entrances, walking route and internal transport before buying tickets.
Expect uneven paths or steps; discuss lifts, cable cars and queues.
Consider Tianmen Mountain as a separate outing from the forest park. Check its current entry time and route before booking. Keep a slower day or weather buffer if you would rather avoid another full mountain outing.
